let the nesting begin

It's 23 weeks this weekend and the baby has been making itself known frequently with jabs and kicks to Laurie's belly. We'll be sitting down at dinner or breakfast or watching TV when all of a sudden POW, the baby lets a good kick or two loose and Laurie is shifting in her seat. This weekend we have finally realized that we had better get our act together and start what all the books refer to as "nesting". It came as sudden realization when we went to look at some baby furniture and the store said that it takes about 14 weeks for the furniture to be delivered. What? We only have 17 weeks left. So that prompted some rather quick decisions and got us thinking that maybe we should stop planning and start doing. The next big effort will be the baby's room which will require some power tools, hammers and some demo work, woohoo! We have a general idea on the room colors, but first we have to get a room ready to be painted. The trick is squeezing the stuff we have in two bedrooms down into one. Of course to do this quite a few things will make it to the dumpster or the donation pile. -k

More than halfway there, baby!

It's hard to believe that we are already 5 months pregnant. The ultrasound is of the baby at 16 weeks (6 weeks ago). The most common question I've been asked is "How are you feeling?" My pregnancy so far has been great. No morning sickness...just constant hunger! Everyday is a struggle with trying to find something to wear. My clothes are a little too tight and maternity clothes make me look like a potato. Thanks to my cousins Renee, Kathie and Joyce, I have been stocked with cute maternity clothes that I am slowly starting to wear.

birth of our blog

so we finally decided set up a blog so that all of those who live away from us can tune in and see what's happening in the johnston family adventures. as most of you already know, laurie is now 21 weeks pregnant. she is starting to show more and the baby is making itself known by punching and kicking its way around her belly. it's like a little mosh pit in there. just two days ago i felt the baby kick on the outside of her belly for the first time, a series of small taps and one big thump. we'll keep posting as things progress and let you all know how things are going. only 19 more weeks! -k
